Arthur J. Conte, Esq.

When I first began my career in law, when I was still in law school, I had discovered the practice area of elder law. I learned that seniors in our community had a variety of legal issues that the law provided answers to, but not enough affordable lawyers who could get them such answers. It is the drive to help one of our most vulnerable populations, senior citizens, that drove me to begin practicing in the areas of elder law and trust & estates once I was admitted to practice. Experiences, both professional and personal, led me to want to open my law firm and help those individuals and families who sometimes need it most and who receive help the least.

Arthur Conte, Attorney at Law

Overview

Prior to creating Hyl Conte Law, PLLC with Paul, I had my own law practice exclusively in the areas of Elder Law, Trust & Estates and Special Needs Planning. I advise clients on creating, implementing and maintaining complete and unique estate plans, which includes Wills, Trusts, Advance Directives and other important documents and planning techniques. Sometimes a good estate plan involves a client’s business and so I also represent clients with regards to implementing small businesses to further asset protection and estate planning goals. I also helped clients and their families plan for and obtain New York State Medicaid benefits to cover the costs of long term care, both at home and in skilled nursing facilities. I also represent clients in a variety of legal matters before the Surrogate’s Court, most notably with respect to all aspects of probate and estate administration. I also advise clients on estate and gift tax matters related to theirs and their families’ estates.

Before having my own practice, I worked with a few different elder law and trust and estate firms on Long Island serving as an Associate Attorney in those firms. I am a member of the New York State Bar Association including the Elder Law & Special Needs Planning Section as well as the Trust & Estates Section. I am also a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.

My philosophy on being an attorney is that I believe that every situation is unique and requires different levels of complexities, sophistication and tools used so that each client is left with a plan that meets their exact needs and expectations. My goal with clients is to empathize with their needs and understand what their perspective is so that when I present a plan, it not only works for their situation from a legal perspective, but also from a practical one, as well.
